Illustrator Steven Noble has been busy creating timeless labels for various whiskey brands.
Steven Noble was commissioned by the branding and packaging design agency Stranger & Stranger to craft the artwork for the Emerald Giant Rye whiskey label (featured). The illustration features naturalist John Muir kneeling down and gently holding a young redwood tree. Steven Noble rendered the image using a distinct, bolder linocut and scratchboard style to give it a rugged, woodcut hand-crafted aesthetic.
Redwood Empire Whiskey commissioned Steven Noble to custom illustrate the Screaming Titan labels in a scratchboard linocut style. A quick hike from The Lost Monarch within the Grove of Titans you will find this multi-stem coastal redwood rising over 323-feet from the ancient forest floor. Forestry professor Stephen C. Sillett named it after the story of naturalist Michael W. Taylor, who screamed when he first spotted the grove in the late 1990s.. The Redwood Empire stretches from San Francisco to Humbolt Bay and on to the Oregon border. It is a rugged, sparsley populated area still dominated by forest, including the protected groves of Muir Woods and the massive forests of the Humboldt Redwoods.
Lastly, Steven Noble was tasked with rendering a custom illustration for Thornton Distilling Co. which is an award-winning craft distillery, restaurant, and cocktail bar located in Thornton, Illinois. Operating out of a meticulously restored 1857 building that stands as the oldest standing brewery in Illinois, the distillery seamlessly blends nearly two centuries of history with modern spirit production. The illustration includes a scene centered around a historic building on the Thornton Distilling property with a surrounding prairie background illustrated in a scratchboard woodcut style.
