A Photo Success Story

To the uneducated eye, the image above might not strike you as all that remarkable, but that’s because it is so convincing in every detail. If you’re a professional photographer or agency buyer, you know that capturing this image is not as easy at it looks. Finding cows with the most endearing expression and coaxing each of them into just the right position with heads cocked just so, in the midst of a 50-mph dust storm takes patience and persistence. The work of the retoucher requires skill and patience to assemble all the pieces into a convincing narrative; three cows in brown and neutral shades, standing as if for a family portrait, are contrasted by a small herd of black cows standing behind them with plenty of blue sky above for potential copy requirements. None of this would have been possible with out an excellent crew of professionals led by photographer Scott Van Osdol and the trust of the client Zoetis Pharmaceuticals and their agency BaderRutter. The job also came Scott’s way as a result of Workbook’s Short List,  which helps art buyers find the right talent for the job. This is how good advertising gets made.
