Bushyhead - Children's Book Illustration
Bushyhead is a heartfelt, educational and uplifting children’s story of a young girl who is frustrated with her crazy curly hair and teased at school because of it. After seeing children at the hospital without hair, she learns to appreciate hers and share it with others. Bushyhead teaches black hair pride, self-love, compassion, and  about hair loss during cancer treatment. Alyah designed a set of colorful, detailed, warm, and friendly illustrations to complement this charming story, including page concepts and layouts, a look and identity for characters, and delightful background settings.
The Ellen Degeneres Show - Be Kind Box Alyah was commissioned by the Ellen DeGeneres Show to design their Summer BE KIND subscription box, a packaged collection of socially conscious products handpicked by Ellen. Her design shows a vibrant, happy, loving and kind community enjoying summer and living joyful lives. Because it was during  the second summer of the pandemic, she told us she, "..felt it was important to express appreciating the simple things that make us happy.
