Illustrator and Filmmaker Charlie Griak is a master at capturing historic moments in sports. In his most recent personal series, Charlie departs from his previous work to explore iconic sports moments from never before seen perspectives.
“A recent illustration assignment got me thinking about how many of the greatest moments in sports history were never fully captured on camera. In many cases, only a handful of grainy photographs—or a single camera angle—remain from events that have since become iconic. I began with Willie Mays’ legendary ‘The Catch.’ Rather than recreating the familiar photograph, I wanted to reimagine that split second from an entirely new vantage point while remaining true to the spirit and energy of the original moment.”
