The artists with the David Goldman Agency were busy with projects ranging from their first-ever private commission, to doubling up as both illustrators and editorial writers.

Michael Glenwoodcreated this cover illustration for Contingencies magazine. The article took a look at the proliferation of fake news being disseminated via social media and how you can protect yourself and get the straight facts. A fun piece, and I enjoyed working on illustrations that address issues that matter to me. One of those issues is society being bombarded by so much news of questionable provenance and accuracy that it undermines the rational decision-making necessary for a functioning democracy. "I created the label design for Rotten Skull Bier with the idea of having twelve different colors. I also created the illustrations with four fanciful animal skulls." Bruno Mallart / David Goldman Agency
"'IT'S A JUNGLE IN THERE!' A husband madly in love with his wife, even after many, many years of marriage, knew his wife likes my work a lot. I know this sounds like the notorious email scam many of my collegues and myself have recieved over the past couple of years. But this one was legit ;) I never think of my work as independent art. I’m an illustrator, and I do illustrations meant to be published in context. However, I often get requests for prints of existing work, and I like my work best if the illustrations have the quality of living on their own. This man, however, wanted me to create something especially for his wife. I thought that was so sweet. I think it was the first time in my 23-year career that I took on a private commission, and I had a lot of fun creating it! Aad Goudappel / David Goldman Agency.
"Easily my favorite project of the year was the Masters Preview Issue which came out in April. Every year Golf Digest sends an artist to create an illustration series based on the artist’s first experience at the Masters Tournament. It is the most famous of the Grand Slam tournaments and steeped in history. Many of my favorite artists have done this gig, so it was a thrill when they asked me. Ironically, I’m the first illustrator in fourteen years who was sent who golfs. Even better, they asked for a humorous story to go with the series, so I was both writer and illustrator. It’s an experience which I will always fondly remember." James Yang /David Goldman Agency
"I had a lot fun doing this cover illustration for Wellesley College [magazine]. Like almost any illustrator, I love drawing animals. The cover story was about two alumnae from Wellesley College who ran for office, each for a different party. Although I thought they would go for a more serious one, I was happy they went for this more lighthearted idea. As conceptual illustrators, we have many types of ideas at hand to tell our story. Taking things literally, in this case 'running' is often balancing between simple and smart. I think it worked well in this case." Aad Goudappel / David Goldman Agency.
