Best of 2022: Debut Artists

Debut artists applied their imaginations to an array of projects for entertainment clients, packaging, advertising and publishing.

Above:  Alan Berry Rhys was commissioned to create a series of hero images to market Johnnie Walker’s new Blonde range. The artwork reflects the tropical and summery energy of the brand.

The Red Dress illustrated the cover art for Michael Palin's book which documents the diaries and accounts of his time in the secretive country of North Korea.

Jordi Ros was commissioned by Faramalla Club to create a special cover for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs ‘Cool It Down’ album.

Jacey was commissioned by Empire magazine to create a series of illustrations to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Tim Burton’s Batman Returns.

Jacey was provided with a series of photos of Tim Burton and then created environments based around moments in Batman Returns and retouched the photos into them.

hitandrun were commissioned by Spiro to create an optical illusion floor print for Temenos’s conference at London’s Excel centre. The artwork when viewed at the appropriate angle gives the impression of London landmarks appearing through the floor.

Peter Strain created a private commission to commemorate John Carpenter’s film The Thing (1982).
Corey Brickley was commissioned by Disney Lucasfilm Press to create the cover of their forthcoming release of Star Wars: The High Republic Path Of Deceit. The story is part of the Star Wars young adult adventure series, set in the world of the High Republic, 150 years before the storytelling of Star Wars Phase I.
Chris Labrooy was commissioned by Costa to create a typographic treatment to advertise their Big Deal Friday offer. The ad can be seen on digital and 6 sheets in Costa stores across the UK.
