Bonnie Hofkin captured two historical greats from two very different worlds: German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven and Major League Baseball’s George Herman “Babe” Ruth. Hofkin was inspired by The Babe’s advice to “never let the fear of striking out get in your way” and the work of Beethoven, Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92, 2nd Movement, “Allegretto,” which she listened to while working in her studio.
The added flourishes, such as handwriting and motion lines, combined with a rich, natural palette create the depth and character these two greats deserve.
