Bruno Mallart is an award-winning French Illustrator known for his distinctive visual language blending drawing, painting, watercolor, and collage, shaped by surreal humor and dreamlike hybrid figures. Alongside his editorial work for publications such as The New YorkTimes, Le Monde, and The Wall Street Journal, his artistic practice unfolds through exhibitions and large-scale original drawings exploring themes of forest and architecture, extending his singular and deeply poetic visual universe.
In Les Jardins de Baobabel, the artist has taken that sentiment to the next level, creating a dreamlike journey through the vegetal architectures of his imagination.
Les Jardins de Baobabel draws from several of the artist’s existing paintings, which were reinterpreted, recomposed, and reframed to create visual continuity between shots. The animation is the result of a collaboration between Bruno and art director and motion designer Louis Mallart, and was handcrafted frame by frame by using Bruno’s pencil drawings.
