Photographer/Director Cameron Karsten’s latest collaboration with SITKA Gear leans into a quiet, observational approach to elk hunting in the Pacific Northwest. Shot across eastern Washington, the series lingers on moments of stillness, shifting light, and the tension between presence and absence , where both wildlife and human activity are often felt rather than seen.
Immersing himself fully in the elements, Cameron embraced the unpredicatability of the environment: “There was no other way. When the weather hit…I realized, this would be no ordinary task.” The result is a body of work rooted in his naturalistic style—introspective, cinematic, and emphasizing mood, texture, and the rhythm over an action-driven narrative.
