Cameron Karsten and SITKA Gear Redefine Outdoor Storytelling

Posted on

Photographer Director Cameron Karsten’s latest collaboration with SITKA Gear leans into a quiet, observational take on elk hunting in the Northwest. Shot across eastern Washington, the series captures fleeting moments of stillness, shifting light, and the subtle tension between presence and absence in the landscape, with wildlife and human activity often implied rather than shown. Braving the elements, Cameron rooted his approach in stillness. On Instagram he notes, “We fully immersed. There was no other way. When the weather hit…I realized, this would be no ordinary task.” The results speak for themselves. Rooted in Karsten’s signature naturalistic style, the work reframes outdoor storytelling as something introspective and cinematic, emphasizing mood, texture, and the rhythm of being “out there” over action-driven narrative.
