Illustrating the Yearbook Journey: Emanuel Wiemans Creates a Playful Series for Yearbook Machine

Posted on

When online book printing company Yearbook Machine set out to visualize the process of creating a customized yearbook, they enlisted Amsterdam-based illustrator Emanuel Wiemans to create a series of illustrations. The artwork walks viewers through the steps of designing and ordering a personalized yearbook, in which Emanuel uses a youthful, contemporary style that feels approachable and full of personality.

For this project, Emanuel saw an opportunity to push his own creative boundaries. Working digitally, he experimented with a slightly different visual approach while continuing his ongoing search for a distinctive artistic voice. In a creative landscape increasingly shaped by automated imagery, the process became an exploration of what makes human creativity unique—embracing small imperfections, expressive lines, and playful details that give each illustration its character—as skillset that stands out for its ability to merge traditional artistic warmth with modern tools.

Emanuel is an illustrator, animator, and storyboard artist whose work features bold compositions, textured lines, and character-driven storytelling, making him a strong choice for editorial, advertising, publishing, and brand-driven visual narratives.
