From Kindergarten to College: A Retrospective Gallery by SAVERIO

Posted on

In his most recent newsletter, Photographer/Director SAVERIO recently offered a retrospective on his work in the education sector. In discussing his work with clients inquirEd and Elmhurst University, SAVERIO offers a glimpse into his process, as well as his takeaways from his work, on both projects.

With client inquirEd, and EdTech firm, SAVERIO worked in elementary school classrooms. In looking back on the project, he explains his process: “What’s unique to my classroom work is that I go it alone. My crew waits in the hall while (having stretched that morning) I get down to kid level to capture unfolding moments of discovery. Decades of skill with my tools and the maturity to anticipate action pays off for my clients with soulful work that no stock agency or artificial intelligence can touch.”

To bookend the walk down memory lane, he recounts his work with Elmhurst University, where he was tasked to refresh their image library. His work with the marketing team there had him working with volunteer students and interviewing them as much as coaching them through their first on camera experience. His work with Elmhurst made him reflect on his own college experience and finding his kindred group of friends. It was that nostalgia that inspired him to focus his library from the viewpoint of the student, taking in their peers as they look into finding their home for higher education.

Whether it’s getting eye-level with kindergartners or sitting alongside college students, SAVERIO proves that capturing the essence of learning at every specific stage of life is truly meeting the students where they are.
