Sara Forrest describes the Flint Hills of Topeka, Kansas as a wide open “sea of green and sky” as well as where she calls ‘home.’ And on a recent visit, she was able to capture something of the essence of the region when she discovered and photographed a rodeo competition for girls. There are portraits of pensive moments just before competition, but once things get under way these girls demonstrate that they know how to handle a horse. You can feel the sense of possibility in them and in all the surrounding open space. Go to Sara’s blog for the full post.
