There were two phases involved in this project for the Ken Burns and Lynn Novick epic documentary, The Vietnam War. Greg was initially contacted by Atlantic Re:think, the marketing division of the Atlantic magazine and asked to create an illustration for the Atlantic as part of the advertising campaign for the series (see image above). By employing a montage approach, Greg compares and contrasts the political and social complexities covered in this comprehensive documentary. The next phase involved a series of iconic imagery that represents each of seven audio interviews that will air live on the Atlantic website. By utilizing some of the well-known icons of the era, Greg successfully captures the essence of each interview.
