Greg Manchess Teams Up with NASA and SpaceX

Posted on

A few chance meetings with a real astronaut at genre-type conventions like World Fantasy Con and World Con gave illustrator Greg Manchess the opportunity to create the logo patch for the NASA and SpaceX first launch to the International Space Station as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program. He thought it would be placed among the myriad of other NASA mission patches at mission control that no one would ever really see, but as Greg tells us, “It happened quite simply, which is why I didn’t believe they’d actually use it. Then, on Saturday, launch day, I got a link to some of the NASA photography they used for #LaunchAmerica. I couldn’t believe it. It was everywhere.”

Greg recently finished Crew Two’s patch and is about to start work designing the patch for Crew Three!
