Gui Soares is I Chase Balloons: all around visualista & mind bender
In one of the most romantic neighborhoods of Rio, Gui learned from his paternal grandfather, an industrial designer, what was a pencil, a drawing board, and a set square. In his first sketches, he followed in the style of comic books. He grew up listening to music - from opera to Tropicália - and became intimate with the rhythms of drums and percussion. His mother's Heirloom. A family thing. Belief. Identity.
Very shy, he used drawing and music as a bridge to connect with people. He is a son of parents who always encouraged him and his brothers and sisters to be everything they could be. Gui became an illustrator and a balloon chaser.
He illustrated comic books and designed walls for offices. Sometimes he thought about being an artist, but majored in industrial design instead and ended up in advertising. Gui lost the joy in the work, yet rediscovered his passion, his hand, his style, in drawing. Gui dreams big even when he's awake and keeps chasing balloons. Will keep on it til the day he dies.
Today he lives in São Paulo and plans to conquer the world to make things better for everyone...as he learned from a young age, from Grandpa Josué, right there at good ol' Cachambi.
Nick Fain has worked as a digital artist in advertising & editorial for more than 25 years. His work ranges from photo illustration to creative retouching and 3D modeling/CGI. Many projects have utilized aspects of all these skill sets. The result is a consistent and seamless blend appropriate for each assignment. Versatility and attention to detail is key to all the work.
Nick has been a senior staff artist in pre-press and creative studios for advertising. But most of his experience is as an independent artist creating images for print and web. One area common to his work has been creating and merging multiple elements for composite images. He often combines scenic elements with talent captured in studio or outdoors. Other composite projects consist of stock or original imagery supplied by clients, to which he often adds additional components.
3D modeling can be used to create photo real props or scenes that may be too expensive or physically impossible to build. Other assignments may require 2D digital painting, graphics, or special FX.
These galleries display a range of disciplines, abilities, and styles. Some feature samples of straightforward retouching projects, while others contain unpublished examples of imagined landscapes and settings that couldn’t be captured in camera. Nick's non-commercial landscape and wildlife images have only minor edits, but what remains of the natural world doesn’t need to be embellished. He enjoys the challenge of working within or beyond the boundaries of multiple disciplines.
Paul Sirand is a French illustrator and creative director.
Based in Paris, he’s inspired by his dogs and nature, and the tailored, well-thought-out look of uniforms, which he says are only legitimate in large numbers! Paul’s inspired by the way uniforms make a team look like a brand in itself.
Paul wishes to project an atmosphere with his work and thinks that a good image should be enough to tell a good story.
