Articulate Graphics/Harris has a passion for both art and medicine, so finding the unique field of medical illustration has allowed them to approach their work with particular enthusiasm. Both members of the team have received their Master's Degree in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Illinois of Chicago, one of only a handful of accredited schools for medical illustration in the United States. Each earned their undergraduate degrees at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where Sharon earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting, and Joel earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Esther Cuesta de la Mata began her career as an illustrator in 2010, sometime after finishing her degree in Plastic Arts, Graphic Design and Illustration in Segovia (Spain). In her early years as an artist, her pictorial work was essentially autobiographical, being her main aim to capture her feelings, concerns and her peculiar way of understanding and conceiving the world. Currently, apart from being focused on the development of her own universe and creating countless commissioned portraits, she works as a freelance illustrator carrying out projects for clients from very different sectors and countries. She has a special predilection for traditional techniques, although she often combines them with digital ones. Her working tools range from brushes to tattoo needles, including a wide range of materials. She is passionate about experimenting, mixing and discovering new combinations. She received commissions from the award-winning video game publisher Bethesda Softworks LLC, the prestigious creator of series such as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. She has made illustrations for a well-known museum in North Carolina (USA), a renowned wildlife documentaries producer and she has worked for different publishers, advertising agencies and both Spanish and international companies (she had the creative position in one of these companies for 5 years). She has also illustrated several music album and magazine covers and accepted commissions from different public institutions. Although she has her own characteristic and easily recognizable voice and style, she is also a versatile artist capable of adapting to the demands of each assignment.
Ian Dale is a freelance children's, interactive, and editorial illustrator based in Los Angeles, California. His work tends towards richly-detailed digital paintings that live somewhere between animation and photorealism. Ian enjoys creating characters that come from around the world, and that inhabit worlds of imagination. Ian is at home with conceptual thinking and communication, and can transform complex ideas into clear and appealing images. He has an extensive background in design and animation that helps him understand the big picture when illustrating for a variety of projects.  Born into a multiracial family, Ian gravitates towards diverse and multicultural characters in illustration. He seeks to bring a global perspective to his work, and to tell the stories of those who may be less visible in our world.
Nicholas Matej is an illustrator based in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
Pierre Droal graduated from Les Art Décoratifs de Paris (animation & special effects), and began his career in the movie industry. Soon realizing that the technical part of his job was taking over the artistic side, he decided to change course and focus on developing his abilities as a visual artist and painter. Since then, he has worked as a freelance illustrator for international clients: Tor Books, Amazon, Modiphius, Night Shade Books, Gallimard, le Seuil, Dargaud. His images were featured in Spectrum, Illustrators, Illustration West, Ballistic Exposé & Painter, Heavy Metal & ImagineFX, and were also exhibited in New York & Los Angeles.
Dan McGeehan is a Chicago-based cartoonist/illustrator with an international clientele. His whimsical, fun, colorful illustrations have appeared in a wide range of magazines, advertisements, and children’s books for over thirty years. Commissions have come from a variety of publishing firms such as Highlights for Children Magazine, Weekly Reader, Disney Publications, Sports Illustrated, Child’s World, Cambridge University Press, Childcraft, Harcourt-Brace, McGraw-Hill Publishers, Klutz Books, and many more. In addition, Dan is the author of several short plays that have been performed internationally. His multi-award-winning one-act play “A Long Trip” is one of the most performed and most honored short scripts in the nation and appears in the annual anthology “The Best American Short Plays.”
