Smeeta Mahanti, based in Berkeley, California, is a lifestyle photographer that shoots editorial and commercial assignment work. Self-assigned personal projects are also part of her routine. Smeeta is a people person who realized in the last few years that she is also a dog person at heart. Kids and teens are particularly engaging to her...she loves watching them navigate the world with beautiful awkwardness. Smeeta chose to embrace the process of discovery in whatever situation is unfolding in her life. People and relationships drive her...she wants to know more. Through her work, she tries to create imagery that is filled with emotion and energy. Magnetic energy that is created between subject, camera and ultimately the viewer. She wants the viewer to feel. In addition to her photography work, she is also the founder and executive director of KidsRise, a nonprofit dedicated to engaging and empowering the next generation of voters.
In between soccer practices and neighborhood baseball games Matt Trappe loved shooting photos on his parents old pocket film camera. As a kid it never occurred to him that photography could become a career but that little camera lit a spark. While pursuing a graduate degree, Matt traveled exhaustingly throughout Europe and found himself happiest when lost in the camera just observing and creating. Several years into an ensuing corporate career he was laid off after just 6 months into a new job. Even worse, the hammer dropped on his first day back to work after the birth of his daughter. As a new dad he was angry and confused but above all he was MOTIVATED. He immediately pulled the rip cord and gathered the courage to start trusting his gut. Matt hustled to self produce shoots, make promos and set up meetings in hopes of carving out a space in the industry. Word has spread since 2011 and shoots have grown to become integrated productions including motion content and director work in sports, fitness and outdoors.
Scott Lorenzen is a commercial photographer currently residing near San Diego. Regardless of genre, Scott's work is anchored by the compositional rigor of architectural shooting, with an eye informed by his life-long love of landscape photography. Scott holds on to the stream-wading, tadpole-collecting curiosity of his boyhood, growing up exploring nature amid the oaks and fields of Northern California's rural ag lands. Scott is FAA 107 UAS Pilot Rated and OSHA Safety Certified.
In 2017 Chris Court won the James Beard award for photography after also winning the IACP Photography/Styling award. Chris’ passion for photography began in his early teenage years when his mother (with great foresight) sent him off, with his 2 sisters and brother, to photography courses every school holiday. The darkroom is an intriguing and amazing place for nurturing creativity. After completing a BA Chris entered the commercial photography industry and has never looked back. ‍ Chris has worked with all the major food, lifestyle and interiors titles including Donna Hay, Gourmet Traveler, Martha Stewart, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue Living, Living Etc and many many more.
Pedro H. Oliveira was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and raised by a widowed mother along with his two other sisters in a small town in a region called Ribeira Valley. He left home at the age of 15 searching for a better life. At the age of 22, he decided to move to the USA to further his education and improve himself as a human being. Pedro has won several awards as a photographer and his work has been published in a handful of magazines, however, he doesn’t think that defines who he is. What defines Pedro is the fact that he is a hopeless believer in kindness, no matter how warped today’s world appears. Photography started as a hobby to keep Pedro busy in his free time. It became a passion when he started a project called “Careful: Soul Inside.” Ever since, framing moments has evolved into a passion that pays his bills. Whenever he is not working, he is taking pictures or watching movies while dissecting the light set up and color grading used in those movies. Some people would call him a workaholic, but the truth is that he never feels like he is working when he has a camera in his hand and a subject in front of him.
