Artist Jason Naylor completed two mural projects during the shelter-in-place order. The first is just one of many that were installed all over New York City as part of a program sponsored by Indiewalls. It was installed in the parking lot of Sloan Kettering on the Upper East Side of New York City as an expression of deep gratitude for the sacrifices healthcare professionals have made during the pandemic. Its uplifting message can be seen by the hospital staff from the windows of the hospitals, and during the installation process, prints of the image were distributed to all the nurses working in the hospital.
For the second project, Jason tells us,”During the peak of the lockdown, just as the rainbows were appearing in windows everywhere and the clapping began at 7:oo p.m., I had the privilege of working with the Atlantic Center Mall to bring this rainbow colored mural to life. ‘A World of Hope’ is a tribute and expression of gratitude to the essential workforce…aka the ‘Heroes of this world.’ Special Thanks to Indiewalls.”
