When Jill Broussard first starting showing up at the beach interested in photographing the surf community it was assumed that she was after the the perfect body surfing an epic wave. But she was after something different; something a little more spiritual. As Jill told us, “I want the rituals, and the prayers… These stories are part meditation, part joy, part prayer and part breath. My photos are a celebration of the largely personal journey each surfer makes in the dark when they show up at the beach, look at the waves to decide if they’re praying or not.”
