Jim Baldwin understands the importance of place. He is constantly assessing space everywhere he goes. It’s how he views the world, and even when he’s trying to turn off his location scouting radar, he finds himself assessing his surroundings and making a mental note.
Jim’s become the go-to for location resources and management, having built a vast library over the last 30 years. He is currently able to fill about 90 percent of the requests he receives from his existing library of locations. But on the occasion he receives a request that requires him to find something new, he wholeheartedly embraces the search.
There are so many factors that determine whether a location is right. The light, the physical layout, the disposition of the owner/management, parking and permits, timing, proximity to the client’s home base, and price all make a difference in the final decision. And sometimes, “you just know right away.”
