John Blais Brings Authenticity and Fun to Omnipod’s Recent Rebrand

Posted on

Photographer/Director John Blais recently brought his signature blend of authenticity and energy to a rebranding campaign for Omnipod, the innovative insulin pump manufacturer. Shot on location in Charleston, SC, the production’s goal was to build a versatile stills and motion library that highlights real-life use of the Omnipod device. With 20 talent, four locations, and 50+ deliverables packed into just three days, the shoot was a true team effort capturing honest portraits, lively lifestyle moments, and everything in between.

A major creative challenge was the request for minimal post-production and retouching, meaning the Omnipod had to be clearly visible in every shot without looking staged or forced. Pods were carefully placed in natural, familiar positions on the body, with special attention paid to comfort and accuracy. The adhesive strength of the pods also meant every application and removal had to be handled delicately and with precision. To ensure every placement was safe and effective (and because a majority of the talent were children), a trained specialist with insulin pods was on set.

Despite the complexity, the results speak for themselves: vibrant, genuine moments that reflect the real experiences of people living with diabetes. It’s real expressions, real moments, happy kiddos, and no ouchies.
