The illustrated map is a great form of info graphics that combines elements of visual interest and information. These maps created by Kevin Sprouls are a great combination of line work, texture, motif and hand-lettering that he can render in black and white or in full color.
This particular map was created for the Word Wildlife Fund; a worthy non-profit. In addition to the agreed upon fee, the deal was sweetened with 50 t-shirts printed with Kevin’s lizard map (above.) Below you’ll see more examples of how Kevin begins work in black and white and then transforms a map with an application of color.
