Kirsten Ulve Gets Personal with Helpwanted in Her Best of 2024

Posted on

Helpwanted is the only organization in the Netherlands with a complete focus on online cross-border behavior. They help people with issues like receiving unwanted sexually oriented emails and removing unwanted and unauthorized imagery shared on the internet.

Illustrator Kirsten Ulve was approached by Amsterdam agency Johnny Wonder with the task of creating the visuals for public posters, billboards, and animated spots for social and outdoor media in the Netherlands. They wanted bold, diverse and fun characters with the typography formed into the body. They specifically wanted the universal language of emojis to create a connection to texting.

Kirsten created characters who felt free to take selfies and share private imagery. The illustrated text on the bodies translates to: “I decide for myself who gets to see my (😻 🍑 🍆) or know my (📍),” with the following on the final sceen: “Is someone sharing your images without permission?”
