Souvenir Scarves have been around forever. There’s probably one for every state in the union and every major city in the world. Kirsten Ulve just released her own version featuring her hometown of New York City. She told us, “So much of my work is disposable (magazines) and sometimes only online. I wanted to make something you can touch and use and wear. A silk scarf is the perfect vehicle for imagery, plus they’re glamorous AND practical.” (This one is also a “map”of Manhattan!) Her colorful, graphic illustrations of famous Manhattan landmarks are printed in two, six-color schemes: one vivd, one muted. If these take off, there may be more functional and wearable items available from Kirsten Ulve in the future.
