When Florida-based indie rock band Flipturn announced a reimagined version of their Sophomore album “Burnout Days” with every song reinterpreted by a different artist, they turned to their long time album cover illustrator Micah Lomel. Micah got to make a collection of 3 covers for the release: 2 for singles and 1 for the full album. The idea to use collage coincided with the theme of collaboration. Micah made artistic choices based on the order of release (Swimming Between Trees, Right?, and lastly the album) with the textures and complexity of the design growing with each. For the reimagined album cover, she printed out the cover art she made for the original and collage/painted over it, creating something brand new on top of the old, essentially mirroring the process of the album creation. The album comes out March 13th, enhanced by Micah’s aritstry.
