New Western is a personal collage series by Illustrator Nadia Radic inspired by one of the most iconic visual mythologies to emerge from the United States.
Even someone who has never been to the American West can instantly recognize a Stetson hat, Monument Valley, a cactus, or the silhouette of a cowboy. These symbols have become part of a shared visual language that extends far beyond their place of origin.
With New Western, Nadia wanted to reinterpret that familiar imagery through a contemporary lens. By combining archival photographs with contemporary imagery, she deconstructed and reconstructed these iconic elements, creating new visual narratives while preserving the unmistakable spirit of the American West.
“For me, collage is a way of giving new life to symbols we think we already know.”
