The video shoot for Harmony by Hathaspace, an air purifying system, was a perfect fit for Nick Nacca’s hybrid approach to lighting and motion capture.
He began by building a set to contain the smoke. Next, he captured still imagery of each featured product and then using the same camera, he switched to video and recorded clips of the smoke swirling around the contained set. He then transitioned the smoke video to the clear still images for the final result.
The smoke was the only element captured with video. Everything else was animated still imagery, including the final product reveal at the end. He created two additional versions with props to convey a classroom and a home office, but the :30 sec. spot below is his personal favorite.
