Nicole Kaufman in Black And White

Now that we are all covering our faces with masks and are often unidentifiable to those around us, Nicole Kaufman has a renewed appreciation for the illustrated portrait.  She uses simple brush and black ink to great effect in these beautiful gestural portraits. She tells us since she has sheltered in place, she is drawing them to stay happy, and she “has always loved faces, and drawing them is making [me] fall in love with people all over again.”
