Since Thanksgiving is almost here, we decided to ask food photographers to share how they go about photographing the perfect turkey. It seems the answer depends on how you interpret the question. As expected, photographers are all about how the turkey looks, but as photographer Stephen DeVries says, “By the time Thanksgiving comes around I’ve shot so many turkeys that it’s almost not appetizing anymore! Turkeys take so long to cook that we rarely actually cook them on set, but just enough to brown the outside to look nice. They’re completely raw inside!”

So maybe the point is not to feel bad if your turkey doesn’t exactly look like any of these, but it shouldn’t keep you from admiring them anyway.
