In a unique turn of events, Illustrator Ryan Olbrysh found himself having watched all of the 2026 Oscar nominees for Best Picture before the big show March 15th. So what is an artist with all this inspiration to do? Create art, of course!
Ryan tasked himself with the assignment to create simple spot illustrations per nominee to see if he could capture each film in a distilled form. According to his IG, “Most of my work is pretty detailed, with lots of moving parts, so with these I wanted to do the opposite and embrace simplicity.” The result are dynamic portraits that capture mood, motif, and everything in between with simple but bold choices.
