Sara Rubinstein Films a Luxurious Escape for Chumash Casino

Posted on

Photographer/Director Sara Rubinstein closes our ‘Best of 2024’ series with her work for Chumash Casino.

Escape is at the core of the latest Chumash Casino campaign directed by Sara Rubinstein in partnership with Howdy Gang in Minneapolis. Sara and team created four :30 spots and corresponding print advertising, all set in the stunning Santa Ynez Valley in California.

“These stories called for a visual language that felt borderline fantasy. We were creating an alternate world to convey themes of freedom and relief from everyday life. I wanted to be able to capture intimate personal moments, while also conveying a larger experience. We were capturing elements of food, drink, slot machines, hotel rooms, and windy roads- but the core of what was important was shedding the every day and moving our viewers into the bubble experience. From the moment I saw the brief, I knew our talent should walk through the doors practically. I wanted to feel the change in wind, light and textures as our talent passed from one world into the next. I knew camera needed to feel the almost magical change along with the talent and with the viewers – our DP Sean Bagley and team did an incredible job of bringing this transport to screen.” says Rubinstein. “Ad agency Hen’s Teeth conceptualized the advertising, communicating that this destination casino is the pinnacle for those seeking their escape.”
