Illustrator Sara Tyson was commissioned by Suntup Editions to illustrate a special edition of Malcolm Lowry’s Under the Volcano. Sara created interior illustrations as well as cover and clamshell art. One of the greatest novels of the 20th century, Under the Volcano is Malcolm Lowry’s powerful and lyrical statement on the human condition, and a brilliant portrayal of one man’s constant struggle against the forces that threaten to destroy him. Sara’s illustrations beautifully compliment the complexity of life and death with alluring images that meld realism with Latin American mythos.
