Three recent commissions for Sharif Taraby involve portraits, and two did not involve the usual advertising client. But according to his representative John Brewster, they are evidence of Workbook’s reach and a reminder you never know where the next job will come from.
The three oils on canvas of Victoria Cross Winners were commissioned by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Canada and are on permanent display in Vimy, France.
The group portrait was painted for Harlan Crow of Crow Holding in Dallas, to commemorate a weekend with friends that included Judge Clarence Thomas and other notable figures.
The remaining portrait was commissioned by Publicis, New York as a gift for Jeremy Bowes who was returning to the United Kingdom. He also created a number of retro-style portraits for clients such as Tervis Tumblers, Pfizer, and various publications, both domestic and in Europe.
