Illustrator Yulong Lli recently collaborated with Carslan Cosmetic, a popular Chinese beauty brand, for their new product packaging celebrating Chinese Valentine’s Day.
The tradition of wearing a red thread on the eve of the seventh day of the seventh month symbolizes a prayer for the fulfillment of love. Yulong’s gift box uses this “red thread” motif to explore the timeless theme of “the pursuit of beauty and love” through a symmetrical composition that merges self-awareness with self-referentiality. The design features magpies, flowers, and stars intricately outlined by the red thread, along with a “beautiful woman’s profile,” all of which together evoke a creative and romantic atmosphere while conveying eternal well-wishes.
