Bob Venables’ Recent Projects Showcase His Range

Posted on

Illustrator Bob Venables has been busy creating commissioned work for various projects that demonstrate his range and execution of concept.

Above, Bob created a renaissance style map as an Italian travel supplement for Wanderlust Magazine printed in collaboration with the Italian Tourism Board. The map highlights landmarks both geographically and culturally, while staying within the requested style of renaissance cartography.

Next, Bob created the index supplement for Spears magazine about the best private schools in the world. This year, 23 new schools are included in The Spear’s Schools Index selection of the top 100 private schools in the world. Bob illustrated the cover after Raphael’s School of Athens – with the likes of Plato and Aristotle replaced by students from some of the schools in the directory.

Lastly, Bob created the illustrations for Dani Robertson’s Creatures of Darkness: 100 of the Planet’s Weird and Wonderful Animals That Come Out at Night. When the sun sets and the stars emerge, the planet truly comes alive. Creatures of Darkness takes readers on an extraordinary global journey, revealing the hidden world of 100 nocturnal species that thrive when the lights go out.
