Illustrator Steven Salerno has been busy this summer, with two projects that demonstrate his limitless creativity and ingenuity.
Steven illustrated the newly released, HOT DOG! The History of America’s Favorite Sausage. Written by Christine Van Zandt and published by Odd Dot books, the book explores the sizzling history of America’s favorite ballpark snack! HOT DOG! follows Frank De Wienerdog, your outrageously funny guide, in a laugh-out-loud nonfiction adventure that tracks the hot dog’s early immigrant journey to America –from the street vendors of New York City to back yard grills and sports stadiums nationwide. The book is also the recipient of a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selection.
Steven was also commissioned to create illustrations for the July 2026 “Be Well” issue of Palm Springs Life. The illustrations reflect the various aspects of a healthy lifestyle in Palm Springs.
