William Geddes has devoted a lot of time lately to personal projects involving video, and his subject matter is often other artists and creatives. Concepting for his latest project began at the first meeting with plaster artist Stephen, where William absorbed everything he could about the art, the studio, the process, and the personality at the center of all this creativity. William found the biggest challenge was how to express Stephen’s story in a very limited time frame of 90 seconds. He found that by asking “What do you want people to know about you and your work in a minute and a half?” helped them both cut to the chase. There were additional issues with the space and lighting that were much more easily resolved. And the decision to shoot in black and white was clearly the correct aesthetic call.
