Illustrator Juan Bernabeu imagined what hell might look like. The Balbusso sisters channeled 1930s Hollywood glamour for their work on a new volume of Atlas Shrugged and created a beautiful series of period portraits in a Romanesque style for the new St. Jane Hotel in Chicago. Victo Ngai created black-and-white line and four-color imagery for a new limited edition of The Kama Sutra of Vatsyayana and conjures up a super bug for National Geographic magazine. Brian Stauffer gave us a stark interpretation of school segregation and a beautiful memorial image of a black hole for the passing of Stephen Hawking. Neil Webb bluntly reminds us of the dangers of cycling on city streets. Congratulations to these talented illustrators and to all the other winners in this year’s Communication Arts Illustration Annual
