We recently caught wind of artist rep group, IllustrationX, and their quarterly report Trend X where they talk about the latest trends in illustration and provide the data to back it up. In their recent Trend X post, the rep group talked about the uptick in demand for Fantasy Art.
Although the genre was one of the first to be poached by AI, there has been an increased inquiry into artists who specialize in the genre. IllustrationX asserts that artists are able to create deliverables that need less adjustment in a shorter amount of time. Another suggested reason is that the clients want to keep the copyright on their final artwork which cannot be done with AI art. Lastly, at the time of this post, the level of detail and true style has yet to be refined with AI models. It is easier to go to artists who specialize in the style you want than try to coax it out of AI.
Check out some of the fantasy illustrators you can find at Workbook (including IllustrationX). And if you’re interested in another genre of illustration, you can search our online portfolios, or have us find the right artist for you.
