Twenty years before he was a professional photographer, Andy Anderson was a USAF Crash Rescue Firefighter. So when the Women in Fire organization reached out to Broadhead Creative Director Walt Burns about their branding, he knew immediately with whom he would collaborate; he and Andy had a friendship that goes back decades.
The resulting campaign for Women in Fire is the perfect intersection between the things that drive Andy and his work: putting his skills to work in service to society and satisfying his own curiosity. Fond memories of his days living in the firehouse were also a plus. He was able to tell the story of women in the firefighting profession, a story he says is long overdue, and to see how firefighting has changed since his days in the profession. He also told us, “I also got to wear turnouts that I had not donned in nineteen years.”
