Illustrator, Animator, and Fiber Artist Anna Hrachovec has brought her whimsical knitted universe to the screen with Woolly Woolly, a brand-new animated series inspired by the soft, stitched characters she’s been crafting since 2007. Over eight years in development, the show is a collaboration with Groupe PVP Media, co-producer Normaal, and a talented production team spanning two continents, a dream project that’s taken Anna’s beloved creations far beyond yarn and needles.
Designed for preschool audiences, the series follows the cozy adventures of the Woollys, a family of knitted gnomes who can create anything with their yarn. Each episode begins with a pair of real-world kids turning to their woolly friends to navigate everyday challenges, sparking stories filled with imagination, creativity, and play.
Anna served as both executive producer and creative consultant throughout the series’ development, working closely with the team of designers, writers, and animators to bring the Woolly world to life. Directed by Emmanuel Linderer, the computer-animated series mimics the charm of stop-motion, capturing the textures and fuzziness of Anna’s original creations with stunning detail.
Woolly Woolly is now airing in Canada on TVOkids, the TVOkids Smart TV App, and Knowledge Network, as well as on France TV in Europe. The French version, Les Woullis, is also available via TOU.TV and ICI TÉLÉ. Fans can explore the Woolly world, and play a little game, at woollywoolly.tv.
