Our contributing photographers and directors worked for a diverse client base this year. They also spent a good amount of time exploring new ideas and adding imagery to their portfolios in a move to drive their careers forward. Here’s just a sampling; look for more posts with more great work produced in 2019 in the weeks ahead.

"I loved this project because, although I market myself (perhaps a detriment) in many different genres, at heart I love interiors with people. Marvin is a solid brand with a solid product, and the chance to work with them is a dream." Chad Holder
"We loved this project, 'Big Sun,' because we tried a new type of set design and felt really happy with the final result. It was really fun to make something super creative and unique to us." Tropico Photo
"My favorite project of 2019 was a project I shot with The Flatland for First Wave, the design lab for Delta Faucet. I loved this project because it combined very interesting worker/artisan on-location images with studio product photography of the finished faucet. The combination of disciplines was a fun challenge, resulted in work I am quite proud of, and a beautiful hand-stitched finished print piece that has a handmade look and feel." Greg Whitaker
"Shooting this brand-reveal job for JAXPORT checked off a lot of boxes for me: stills, video, drone, time lapse, industry. Also, shooting that type of subject matter is the grown up version of playing with Tonka trucks for me." Ketterman Photography
"I have wanted to add a couple soccer images to my portfolio for quite a while, but it is a location-specific sport, and finding the right location is complicated, especially for a personal project. Consolidating some old 1TB hard drives, I came across a couple stadiums that I shot as a background plate for a product shoot years ago. The athletes were shot in a local park and composited into the background." Rod McLean
"This was an awesome project to be a part of. Being able to capture cinematic elements of Little Italy set in the 1950s and seeing passersby interact with the actors and set was super cool." Robert Ravenscroft
"My favorite project in 2019 was The Mapmaker, a documentary short about Joey Henson, a legendary climber and artist from Boone, North Carolina.
It began as an editorial piece about Joey for a North Carolina magazine called Our State. Joey was initially reluctant to have photos taken of him for the story, but when the writer mentioned I would be shooting it, he agreed to do it, since he knew my work and trusted me. I think that's the greatest validation of my work, to gain trust, more so than being attractive commercially. Building on that, I decided to team up with fellow climber and filmmaker Carlo Nasisse to make a film about Joey, just as a personal project, while I worked on the magazine story. Eventually the US National Whitewater Center funded the project, and the result is this short film, which was released just after the Our State piece. I had worked with producer Cooper Lambla at the USNWC many times before, including on their brand story, and they were again a great partner!" Andrew Kornylak
"This was a project for The Gourmet Germany. We had free license to create, shoot, and animate images for a story called 'Drinks with Friends.' Creatively, the most fun assignment of 2019!" Adrian Mueller
"This is from a personal project I worked on in Nashville (Music City) covering some of the musicians still performing classic county music stylings. I wanted to put a spotlight on the country musicians not giving up on the old ways. I also explored a new style of toning that showcased the grit of each musician." William DeShazer
"Here is a fun personal video test project I shot, focusing on harmful blue light in which we created a whimsical horror spot." Tony Garcia
