In 2016, Bob Coscarelli and his wife Karen purchased a meticulously preserved midcentury modern prefab home in Indiana. It was one of several completely furnished model homes built by Akron, Ohio company #AlsideHomes, that went on the market in 1964. They dubbed the home “The Frost House” (www.thefrosthouse.com) after the original owners, Dr. Robert Frost (Bob) and his wife, Amelia (Babe), who, upon their first visit, fell in love with the furnished model and purchased it immediately. The Frosts lived and loved the home for more than 50 years, changing virtually nothing inside. As Bob says, “For us, being only the second owners, moving into this time capsule has been a revelation into the past.” Owning the home has inspired this series, “Bob & Babe,” a brief exploration into what living in an Alside home might’ve been like in that hopeful, uncertain decade.
