Ken Dutton’s Character Development

Illustrator Ken Dutton has developed recurring characters for both commercial and editorial clients. Ken combines traditional and digital drawing tools to develop characters from concept to finish. Here are a few of his latest characters in action.

Dial Troll: this troll is an edgier, darker version of the Good Luck Trolls so popular in the 1960s. The character is the the cover illustration that serves as the face of a performance podcast series featuring standup comedian Jeremy Arroyo and co-host Anthony Racic.

Originally developed for the 2015-16 season in the ultra-competitive, hoops-crazy Indiana market, Shooter is the instantly recognizable face of prep basketball coverage for the News-Sentinel newspaper. If you are basketball fan in Indiana you know who Shooter is.

Fin Waters is the face of Levhon, a menswear accessory company. He’s everybody’s ultimate shark-about-town. Fin is depicted in a series of six illustrations titled A Week in the Life of Fin Waters, featured prominently on Levhon’s web site.
