Ilanna Barkusky’s new short film is called Under The Surface and features two-time US Olympian and artistic swimmer Anita Alvarez.
In 2022, Anita made global headlines after losing consciousness in the pool during her free solo routine at the World Championships. The film documents her journey back to the sport and expresses the attending emotions she has experienced: joy, sadness, fear and trust; all beautifully captured in an underwater environment.
