By March 2020, photographer Jeff Sciortino knew he would have to seriously re-evaluate his on-set practices and develop new health standards to keep himself and everyone he works with safe from Covid-19.
Once the Sciortino Studio team felt they had sufficient Covid training and their strict new health practices in place, they cautiously began accepting work again. One of the projects they produced which went on the win twelve awards at the 38th annual Healthcare Awards was for Texas Oncology, in collaboration of The Loomis Agency.
The safety standards that the studio had developed turned out to be extremely critical to the production due to the fact that the subjects were real cancer survivors and oncology patients. All support staff were hired locally, and although Jeff and his producer Molly Anzalone travelled from Chicago to Dallas for the shoot, they were tested and home quarantined before and after.
The result is a series of beautiful, authentic portraits of people who know firsthand what it is like to face serious illness and survive. As they gaze back at you from billboards, cell phones, and print ads they project a knowing reassurance that things will OK.
