Knowing how much New Yorkers love their dogs, illustrator John W. Tomac took it upon himself to create a canine companion for Eustace Tilley, the imperious dandy who appeared on the very first cover of the magazine in February, 1925 and has continued to appear almost every February for the last 98 years. As an homage to the magazine’s history, John’s canine creation adopts the color pallet and line of his human, as well as his snootiness. The cover will appear on the February 13 & 20 issue.
