Kate T. Parker x Girl Scouts of the USA: Capturing the Spirit of Sisterhood

Posted on

Photographer Kate T. Parker collaborates with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) to build an expansive, authentic imagery library utilized by both the national organization and local councils nationwide. Spanning several high-energy shoots in Atlanta, Chicago, and New Jersey, the project intentionally avoids professional models, opting instead for large casts of real Scouts in locations ranging from schools to camps. These lifestyle-driven editorial sessions prioritize genuine sisterhood and the natural bonds between the girls, reflecting Parker’s commitment to celebrating strong and driven individuals.

A significant component of the collaboration involves the iconic Girl Scout cookie boxes, which demand a unique blend of artistry and technical precision. Parker meticulously composes these frames to fit specific packaging layouts, ensuring every shot accounts for text placement, graphics, and die-cut windows. With over 100 fully edited, high-resolution images delivered per shoot, the resulting library serves as a versatile asset for digital platforms, print materials, and national campaigns.

By centering the authentic stories of the Scouts, Kate creates a powerful visual narrative that aligns with the organization’s mission and resonates with families across the country.

For Kate, the collaboration is more than just a professional assignment; it is a project rooted in shared values and a lifelong mission to empower the next generation. “This project is one that sits close to my heart because GSUSA’s values are my values. I’ve always been drawn to work that celebrates strong girls and women, and this organization embodies exactly that. Getting to show up, shoot authentically, and contribute to a visual story that will be seen by scouts and families across the country—across multiple years—is exactly why I do this work.”
