New Photographers and Directors

Posted on

The newest photographers to join Workbook this week have extensive portrait galleries. They demonstrate the ability to capture everything from the corporate meeting to something a little more quirky or moody.

Born in New York City, Adam Lerner grew up on punk rock, picked up a guitar at 13 and fulfilled his childhood dream of playing CBGB’s. He toured the country on an indie label with his band, The Booda Velvets, while taking pictures with his dad’s old Pentax film camera. After a few years touring the country, Adam traded the recording studio for the photo studio. When not taking pictures, you may find Adam rolling down the road on an old BMW motorcycle or buzzing thru the woods on a mountain bike. He's always had a passion for cars and motorcycles and like photographing them, too. Currently living and working in New York City, Adam is available for commissions worldwide.
The light from within.  Britton Black's unmistakable look is dark, intriguing and illuminated in such a way that offers an authentic and historically archival feel. Over the last 10 years Britton has refined his style to reflect a very specific way of working.  This tailored approach has yielded consistent and uniform results from within this fluid body of work. Britton is a third generation photographer combining his world experiences with formal educational experience. Britton's grandfather (an RIT graduate) began this three generation succession in 1934.  Fine art studies at Northern Illinois University graduating to commercial emphasis at Harrington College of Design became Britton's chosen path. The combination of tight knit industry comrades, formal education and family background have helped him to excel exponentially.
Robert Ravenscroft’s always been driven to create. From the time he was a teen growing up in the suburbs of Texas, he’d dive deeply and completely into his passions. It moved him to study the details - big and small - that made projects function, shine and stand out. When Robert graduated from the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin with a degree in Finance, it was with the goal of someday running his own business. In 2014 he co-founded Pan Up, a full-service production company. Two years later, he left his job as a financial analyst. As a full-time creative, he’s directed and produced commercials and social campaigns for Southwest Airlines, Netflix, and Square. He's photographed campaigns for Thursday Boot Co., Remy Cointreau, JBL, and Ford, among others. In the photography realm, Robert’s found his niche in commercial work with an emphasis on portraiture. He shoots musicians, models, and friends in a modern, '80s-inspired aesthetic style, steeped in neon colors and textures. Plus, if you were to be like, “but did he design and build some pretty tight custom light tubes that he uses across these shoots?” he’d be like “yes!” and gladly show them to you. Probably before or after a burger with a side of Mezcal Old Fashioned, if you’re into that sort of thing. Which he is. Robert’s always delighted to meet new people and hear their stories. Get in touch to chat collaborations, passions, opportunities, and yes...even finance!
William DeShazer is an editorial and commercial photographer based out of Nashville, TN. He grew up in Louisville, KY and it will always be his home. Because of that William is partial to bourbon and horses. When not working he enjoys exploring Nashville with his wife, playing the guitar, buying records, or planning his next big trip. William loves his job not only because he gets to create something new everyday, but because he gets to meet new people and connect with them on something more than just what's on the surface.
Richmond Gibbs is an Advertising and Editorial photographer based out of Central Florida. What started with the simple need to fulfill a fine arts credit in high school has lead to a lifelong passion for creating and capturing images. He love what he does! Photography has been a perfect fit for his interest and curiosities. Richmond strives to create natural, spontaneous images which convey energy, excitement and most of the time, joy. His style is fun and energetic. He is collaborative and loves to make people smile, and works well with subjects who don't often find themselves in front of a camera. He works above and below the water line. Richmond has shot while riding roller coasters and water slides, in storms, in boardrooms, from lift trucks and helicopters, on the farm and in the kitchen and has enjoyed it all. He loves a challenging shoot and he loves to cover it while being immersed in it. Richmond is a husband of twenty plus years and the father to one amazing and special teenager. He loves to travel and loves the outdoors, and finds inspiration everywhere. He is grateful for today and excited about tomorrow and would love to hear about your project!
